This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and your choices. We follow British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). We also respect the rights given by other privacy laws where they apply to you, such as the EU/UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). Our privacy contact is the business owner, at stylesbusinessgroup@gmail.com.
What we collect
- When you buy: your name, email address, country, and payment and transaction details (such as the amount, date and transaction ID). Payments are processed by PayPal (primary) or Square (CAD backup). We never see or store your full card number.
- When you join the community: the name, email and profile you use on Skool, your posts and messages, and your course progress and viewing activity.
- When you email or message us: what you send us.
- Email: if you get course or marketing emails from us, our email service provider may record whether emails are delivered or opened and whether links are clicked.
- Website: basic technical data our hosting provider logs automatically (such as IP address, browser type, pages visited and time of visit), used for security and to keep the site running.
How we use it, and our legal bases
- To sell and deliver the Program, give you access, provide support and process refunds. (GDPR basis: performance of our contract with you.)
- To check refund eligibility, for example how much content you've viewed, and to respond to payment disputes. (Contract and legitimate interests.)
- To send service emails about your purchase, releases and changes. (Contract.)
- To send marketing emails, only if you've agreed. (Consent, as Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) requires.) You can unsubscribe any time using the link in every marketing email.
- To improve the Program and keep the Website secure. (Legitimate interests.)
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations. (Legal obligation.)
We collect only what we need for these purposes and don't use it for anything else without telling you and, where required, asking for your consent.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't "share" it for cross-context behavioural advertising (as those terms are used in the CCPA). We share it only with: - Service providers that help us run the business, under their own privacy and security commitments: PayPal and Square (payments), Skool (course community and hosting), our email service provider (course and marketing emails), our website host, and our accounting and productivity tools. - Authorities or others when the law requires it, or to protect our rights (for example, in a payment dispute). - A buyer of the business, if the business is ever sold, under the same protections.
PayPal, Square and Skool also act on their own account for some information you give them directly; their own privacy policies apply to that.
International transfers
We are based in Canada, and some of our service providers store or process data in other countries, mainly the United States. Your information may be subject to the laws of those countries, and authorities there may be able to access it. Where the GDPR applies, we rely on our providers' standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
Cookies
Our Website itself doesn't use advertising or analytics cookies. Our hosting provider may use strictly necessary technical cookies or logs to deliver and protect the site. When you go to PayPal, Square or Skool, those services set their own cookies under their own policies. If we ever add analytics or advertising cookies, we'll update this policy first and ask for consent where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
While you have access to the Program, and afterwards for as long as we need it for legal, tax and accounting reasons (generally up to 7 years for transaction records), or to resolve disputes. Then we delete or anonymize it. You can ask us to delete your community account at any time.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to: access the personal information we hold about you; correct it; delete it; withdraw consent (for example, to marketing); and, under the GDPR, restrict or object to certain processing or get a portable copy. California residents also have the right to know what we collect and how we use it, and to delete and correct it, and we won't treat you differently for using these rights. Email stylesbusinessgroup@gmail.com from the address you bought with. We'll respond within 30 days (or the time your law requires), and we may need to confirm your identity. We'll keep the records the law requires us to keep.
If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (oipc.bc.ca), or, if you're in the EU or UK, to your local data protection authority.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, such as reputable providers, strong passwords and two-step verification, and limited access. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we'll notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
Children
The Program is for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
Changes
We'll post any updates here with a new date. If a change is significant, we'll also email current members.
